{"id":4004,"date":"2026-05-03T17:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T14:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ekosphera.org\/?p=4004"},"modified":"2026-05-03T17:32:49","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T14:32:49","slug":"educational-methodological-manual-for-younger-schoolchildren-why-are-wetlands-important","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ekosphera.org\/en\/educational-methodological-manual-for-younger-schoolchildren-why-are-wetlands-important\/","title":{"rendered":"Educational and methodological manual for younger schoolchildren \u00abWhy are wetlands important?\u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Within the framework of the project <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ekosphera.org\/en\/constructing-bird-sanctuaries-to-develop-protected-wetlands-areas-in-zakarpattia\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abConstructing bird sanctuaries to develop protected wetlands areas in Zakarpattia\u00bb<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we covered the educational component, in particular, we developed and published an illustrated e<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ducational and methodological <a href=\"https:\/\/ekosphera.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/chomu-vodno_zhurnal_variant.pdf\">manual<\/a> for younger schoolchildren \u00abWhy are wetlands important?\u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The concept author is Kateryna Stankevych-Koval, executive director of the NGO <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ecosphere\u00bb, while the text authors are Kateryna Stankevych-Koval and Oksana Stankevych-Volosianchuk, an expert of the NGO <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00ab<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ecosphere\u00bb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This manual is dedicated to the importance of wetlands and their role in natural processes and human life. In an accessible and engaging way, the authors explain why wetlands are so unique and even mystical, what wetlands are, who inhabits marshy areas and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The publication contains educational materials and interesting facts about wetlands which everyone should know, as well as stories about the wetlands of Zakarpattia (Black Swamp and Salva). It also includes riddles, puzzles, creative tasks and outdoor games for children. Attention is also given to rules of behavior near wetlands and birdwatching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The manual was developed for educational purposes, aiming to form environmental awareness among children, encourage them to explore nature and promote a responsible attitude toward wetlands as valuable ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The publication was published within the framework of the project<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abConstructing bird sanctuaries to develop protected wetlands areas in Zakarpattia\u00bb.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project is supported by the IKI Small Grants programme strengthening local solutions for effective climate and biodiversity action. IKI Small Grants is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and is run by Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
