Since 2000, Ecotours from REMO “Ecosphere” have been are held annually. Ecotours – are always a reward for those children who are actively working in the field of nature conservation and for those who study the ecological status of aquatic ecosystems. The camp is not only an opportunity to learn more about such ecosystems, but it is also fun to relax in nature.

Ecotours of the School in Nature cycle are distinguished by a program focused on the study of biodiversity of campsites, aquatic and forest ecosystems, and other environmental issues. The program is full of trainings, activities in the environment (on the river, on the meadow, in the forest), day trips to especially interesting places, which are the natural heritage of the region, excursions with specialists zoologists, botanists, ecologists. Particularly interesting evening programs near the fire.

The main target group of eco-camps is children aged 10-16.

Project area: Transcarpathian region.

Objective: To shape students’ environmental awareness and coexistence culture in nature

Result:

Over 4 years, 80 children participated in the ectabor. These are mostly participants of student monitoring groups studying the status of aquatic ecosystems, villages of Krasna and Nevitske of Uzhhorod district, villages of Ilnytsya, Osiy and Podgirne of Irshava district, as well as of Uzhhorod. Another 40 participants are guests from other regions of Ukraine.

The camp program includes classes on:

  • biodiversity conservation in the region (Red Book species);
  • conservation of forests and small rivers;
  • problems of waste disposal;
  • climate change;
  • team formation training;
  • study of the methodology of studies of the ecological status of rivers by bioindicators;
  • excursions and trips to the mountains, to the waterfalls, to the Arpad line, to the trout, to the sites of the PFP.

Through training and games, children gain knowledge in the field of ecology and environmental issues, can participate in conservation activities, and feel part of a community that wants to change the world for the better. Children also learn the skills of living in nature, learning to camp, learning how to set rules and adhere to them. At the end of the camp, each child receives a diploma from the participant.
