Every year, district and city budgets of the region are spent on energy conservation measures at budgetary institutions, particularly in educational institutions. These funds are spent in accordance with existing energy efficiency programs in place in each city and in each district. Particularly trending is the replacement of gas or electricity from gas or yard, which is also considered an energy efficiency measure. Do window and door replacements and heating sources change energy efficiency? Can the implemented measures be considered effective without a previously conducted energy audit by the institution? We were looking for the answers to these questions when implementing this project.

Some of the results of the energy efficiency assessment can be found in the following materials:

1) Why does energy saving in educational institutions of Transcarpathian region not increase their energy efficiency?

2) Uzhhorod kindergartens were tested for energy efficiency.

3) Vynohradiv: is it warm for children in kindergartens in winter?

Project area: Transcarpathian region.

Objective: To promote effective energy policy at the local level in the Transcarpathian region by evaluating the energy efficiency of budgetary institutions and lobbying for innovative energy management solutions on the ground.

Results:

  1. Assessment of energy efficiency of educational institutions (SES and PSA) based on official data on energy consumption for heating and electricity.
  2. Personal meetings were held with the top officials of cities, RDAs and RSAs in Transcarpathia to present the results of the evaluation. The mechanisms of energy efficiency improvement are presented.
  3. Uzhhorod City Council has decided to implement the municipal energy management system in the city and to sign the Agreement of Mayors.
  4. An extensive information campaign was conducted in the regional media on the issue of energy efficiency in the region. Posters and information booklets have been published to improve the energy efficiency of schools and homes.
