The proposed publication contains a description of approaches to the direct monetary valuation methods of the list of natural terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems using the mechanism of direct market valuation. Such approaches are used for the group of provisioning services, as well as, partially, for the group of regulating, supporting services and cultural services of ecosystems.

Methodological recommendations for assessing the value of ecosystem services are based on the international classification of ecosystem services (CICES V5.1). Effective application of the methodology in Ukraine requires ecosystem mapping (MAES Typology for ecosystem classification) and the creation of databases, on the basis of which it will be possible to introduce the accounting of ecosystem services in the country.
Experts of the NGO “Ekosphera” together with colleagues from The National Ecological Center of Ukraine (NECU) work within the project “Development of Methodological Recommendations for Direct Monetary Valuation of Basic Services of Natural Ecosystems” developed a methodology for direct monetary valuation of the value of services of typical ecosystems for Ukraine.
A simple and clear method of direct assessment of the main ecosystem services will allow it to be used in the assessment of damage caused to Ukraine as a result of the war, as well as in the future to include it in a mandatory procedure when assessing the impact on the environment by enterprises during the planning of the relevant economic activity.
